After completion of MFA with specialization in graphics from the M.S. University, Baroda, Bardhan has remained associated with the Lalit Kala Kendra, Kolkata which is his main workstation. Bardhan has participated in the A.I.F.A.C.S. Annual National Level Exhibition in drawing and A.I.F.A.C.S. Annual State Level Exhibition of West Bengal in drawing and also received the award at the A.I.F.A.C.S. Annual State Level exhibition in drawing (2002 in West Bengal). Bardhan has regularly participated in the annual shows of the Academy of Fine arts, Kolkata, State Academy annual exhibitions and Kolkata Information Annual Exhibitions. He has done group shows at the Jahangir Art Gallery, Bombay, 2003 and Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi in 2001. Stain Glass workshop held in 1999 was also attended by him.
