Muralidharan did his post diploma in painting in 1978 from College of Arts & Crafts, Chennai. Apart from winning the grant for 'Guest Artist' from Stockholm College of Art, Sweden in 1989, he also won the grant for 'Guest Artist' from Glasgow School of Arts, Scotland, in 1993. His numerous participation in international group shows includes Biennale at Mauritius in 2005, Biennale, Dhaka in 2004, Contemporary Indian Art Show, at Texas, USA in 2004, Singapore Art Festival, Singapore in 2003 among many others. His solo shows have been held in 1997 as Traveling Show, sponsored by gallery at Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. Apart from this he had solo exhibition at Glasgow College of Art in 1993 and Stockholm College of Arts, Sweden in 1989. He has won the All India Exhibition Award in the year '85 and '87 and National Award Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi in 1994. His works can be found with several' collectors in India and abroad.
