Artist’s Concept :-
This work explores different dimensions of form and material metaphors; the jute rope which becomes the instant symbol of labor, bondage, and punishment is an obsolete yet prevailing material in our urban society, so are the guns the metaphors of pseudo masochism and a patriarchal mind set among the people of this continent leading towards several kinds of conflicts with various dimensions. The use of wood is a metaphor in the sense that the material made out of a living organism thus symbolizing life, but is in a stagnant and dead state and iron, the symbol of modernity which has brought both progress and chaos in our times. Thereby each of the materials itself becomes a readymade expression in my works. The forms, which are part of a long series of my works, that I have been exploring since many years and I often try to explore the inner and outer spaces of a constructed mass; peepholes, cavities, boxes and voids are often the interesting spaces for me. Now and then they are depicted in my works.
