“Human figures have fascinated me always and taken an important place in my work. In the later stage figures figures both male and femaile, have taken a very simple basic shape, related with mass, volume and space. Now I am in conscant search of individual expression” said Bipin Goswami.

Human figures seem to have fascinated Bipin Goswami from the onset of his career as a sculptor. His individualistic expression of the human form and the urge to attach a monumental quality to them irrespective of their size,  . Another remarkable aspect of Goswami’s sculptures especially the metal ones

Bipin Goswami was born in Faridpur, Bangladesh, in 1931. He had pursued his art education from Govt College of Art and Craft, Kolkata during 1945-1949. He was the founder member of the Society of Contemporary Artists and Calcutta Painters. Much later he took charge as the principal of Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship for a short stint. He received numerous awards throughout his career, among which   Abanindra Puroskar and William Carey Award in 1995 and   Doctorate from Rabindra Bharati University in 2004 should be noted.
