Gopinath did Diploma in Modeling and Sculpture from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata in 1978 and also the Teachers? Training course from the same college. He has done a number of solo as well as group shows across the country since 1979. In 2009, he has participated in a group show in Dhaka, Bangladesh; in 2007- the Open Window group show in Singapore; in 2008, the major group shows he has participated in are ?Arts 39?, ?Freedom?, ?Dimension ? all in Kolkata. He has attended the ?Biswa Banga Sammelan?, ?The Millennium Exhibition? at the Birla Academy, Kolkata and the ?Millennium Show, their Story? in New Delhi in 2000, the Stone Carving Camp at Mahaballipuram, Chennai, Metal forging camp and Installation Camp organized by Max Mueller Bhavan, Kolkata. His sculptors are in the collection of Gallery Kunst, Germany, National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi and South Zone culture Centre in Chennai. He lives and works in Kolkata.
