Profile:

He was born in 1964 in Siliguri, West Bengal. Prasenjit Sengupta with his exceptional skill paints hyper realistic works. Unlike his contemporaries, he did not venture into abstraction or a figurative idiom. His works feature human figures which are rendered with exceptional skill.

His works cannot be assigned with a stylistic label.The works although extremely realistic have a surreal quality to them. He uses a specific tone and shade in his paintings. He builds up a repertoire of strategies to paint and draw motifs sourced from the world of visual experience.

All that matters are the fairly stunning scale and skill, infinitely subtle surface and edge and finely nuanced textures and tones in a palette of limited range of shades.

Solo shows in 2007 & 2005 at Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, Delhi with Gallery Sanskriti, in 1994 at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai with RPG, in 2007 at Gallery Sanskriti in Kolkata, in1996 at Varanasi with ABC India Ltd. and in 1994 at Birla academy in Kolkata. He has also participated many important group shows and Art camps in India and abroad.
