View Work

Priyanka Lahiri is a contemporary Indian artist whose practice engages with universal themes through a nuanced lens of social commentary. Her works frequently centre on a female protagonist, employing this figure as a conduit for exploring the complexities of the socio-cultural milieu that surrounds her. These compositions are at once visually arresting and philosophically layered—poignant studies that merge an aesthetic of beauty with an undercurrent of introspection and critique.

Education

Lahiri holds a Master of Visual Arts (M.V.A.) degree from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Art Appreciation. Her formal education reflects both a technical grounding in studio practice and a critical engagement with art-historical and theoretical frameworks.

Major Exhibitions

Her works have been exhibited in significant platforms both in India and abroad, including Art Against Terrorism organised by Aakriti Art Gallery, Kolkata; An Exhibition of Contemporary Art organised by the SAARC Women’s Organization, Dhaka (2009); Gen Next III at Aakriti Art Gallery, Kolkata; the Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata; annual exhibitions at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata; Camlin Art Foundation Annual Exhibitions; and Charukala Utsav organised by the Government of West Bengal.

Lahiri has participated in a number of artist workshops, notably the Gen Next workshop at Emami Chisel Art, Kolkata (2008) and initiatives organised by the Rotary Club, College of Visual Arts, Kolkata Information Centre, and the West Bengal Forest Department (2006–2007).

Awards

Her artistic achievements have been recognised with the Biman Bihari Das Scholarship (2006–07) and the Kishori Lal Roy Award (2005), both conferred by the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata.

Through a practice that synthesises formal skill with thematic depth, Priyanka Lahiri’s oeuvre occupies a distinctive position in the contemporary Indian art landscape, reflecting both an acute awareness of social realities and a dedication to their poetic visual articulation.
