Sagar has done MVA from Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. He is a recipient of National Scholarship from Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Government of India in 2001. Sagar has participated in exhibition in aid of ?The Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy? in Spandan Art Gallery, 2000, ?Expressions?, a group show organized by ?Gallery Espace?, New Delhi, 2005, ?Art Waves?, exhibition of Indian Contemporary Art at Artrium Mica building, Singapore 2005, ?Paper Flute?, group show curated by Johny ML at Gallery Espace, New Delhi, 2006, Inaugural Show at ?Ganges Art Gallery?, Kolkata, 2007 and a group show organized by ?Art World- Sarala?s Art Centre?, Chennai, 2008. Among the major workshops he has participated in are a workshop with eminent artists from India in Lakeland Country Club, Kolkata; organized by Gallery Art World (Chennai) in Kolkata, 2004, a workshop with eminent artists from India in the aid of Tsunami victims, organized by Gallery Art World (Chennai) in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, 2005, workshop with from India organized by Popular Prakashan (Mumbai) in ITC Sonar Bangla, Kolkata, 2006, workshop with artists from India in Mukti Centre, Pondicherry, 2006 and a workshop organized by Gallery Art World in Pondicherry and Kodaikanal in 2008.
