After graduation in fine arts from Govt. College of Art & Craft , Kolkata, Kanchan appeared in the field of painting since the second half of \'70s. His adroit skill in naturalistic style has been instrumental in building up his own form. Throughout a considerable part of his creative life he has been keenly involved with various aspects of theatre. Being a socially conscious artist, temporal reality in its tragic consciousness often tinged with humour is the essence of his creativity.
