Mukulendu Pathak is a distinguished contemporary sculptor whose works explore the physicality of form and material with philosophical depth. Trained in both classical and modernist traditions, his sculptures are rooted in process, texture, and an enduring engagement with socio-cultural themes. Working across bronze, wood, terracotta, and mixed media, Pathak’s practice reflects a sensitive negotiation between the spiritual, the structural, and the organic.

He received his B.V.A. in Sculpture from the Government College of Art & Craft, Calcutta in 1989, followed by an M.A. in Fine Arts (Sculpture) from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda in 1991.

Over the years, Mukulendu has presented his work in key solo exhibitions, including at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata (1996) and Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi (2003). His participation in significant group shows spans national and international platforms—such as Bridge 2 World at Menier Gallery, London (2009), Ishan Baibhav in Dhaka (2010), Time & Material and Art Against Terrorism with Aakriti Art Gallery, and Symphony at M.S.U. Baroda (2012).

He has also been part of important workshops and residencies, including the bronze sculpture residency Myth & Its Aftermaths (Aakriti Art Gallery, 2023), UGC-sponsored national workshops on lost-wax casting, and collaborative sculpture camps in Shillong, Bangalore, Dhaka, and Jammu, among others. His involvement with initiatives by Lalit Kala Akademi, Birla Academy, and international organizations such as the British Deputy High Commission highlights his long-standing commitment to artistic exchange and pedagogy.

Pathak’s sculptural language balances elemental force and poetic stillness. His surfaces often carry the imprint of time and process, while his forms retain a deeply human resonance—echoing gestures of endurance, memory, and transformation.

With a career spanning more than three decades, Mukulendu Pathak continues to be an influential figure in Indian contemporary sculpture. His works are held in several institutional and private collections in India and abroad.
