Subrata Kundu uses colours in an abstract expressionist manner, exploring line, texture and tone rather than form. Leaving behind a very visible brushmark, he juxtaposes broad patches with slapdash lines and fluid spaces of a contrasting hue, in the improvisory manner of early V. Kandinsky, using both figures and abstract forms with equal ardour.
