Aakriti Art Gallery is delighted to announce a solo exhibition of recent works by celebrated artist Gurcharan Singh, titled A World Made Visible. Curated by renowned art critic and poet Prayag Shukla, this exhibition brings together a compelling new body of paintings that reflect Singh’s enduring engagement with the quiet poetry of everyday life.
Born in 1949 in Patiala and trained at the Government College of Arts and Craft, Chandigarh, Gurcharan Singh has long been admired for his vibrant figurative compositions that seamlessly blend memory, observation, and imagination. In these new works, familiar urban and domestic scenes—bustling with people, animals, architecture, and ritual—unfold in layered visual narratives that celebrate the ordinary as extraordinary.
Rich in colour, form, and symbolism, Singh’s paintings offer a unique window into a world where the sacred and the secular coexist, where joy and longing intermingle, and where the unseen is rendered visible through the artist’s deeply empathetic gaze.
We invite you to join us for this special exhibition, which reaffirms Gurcharan Singh’s place as one of the most sensitive and distinctive voices in contemporary Indian art.
